We will walk through the ancient shepherd “trazzere” (paths) and along the way taste typical delicacies of the area, meet with locals, and enjoy the monuments and artistic heritage of the historic centers. Petralia Soprana is the uppermost of the Madonie village and has been awarded the “borgo dei borghi” (Village of all Villages) award and has been named one of the “borghi piu belli d’Italia” (most beautiful villages in Italy). You will be guided among the numerous magnificent churches and admire the many monuments and artistic wealth of the town by retracing the steps of the religious sculptor Frate Umile. On the path from Petralia Soprana to Geraci we will absorb the striking landscape of woods, fields, pastures, and towering Mount Etna in the background. Along the way, we will cross a "marcatu", a meeting place for shepherds, and upon arrival we will visit the monuments and the historic center of Geraci Siculo. The next day, a short panoramic route will lead us to the nineteenth-century center of Petralia Sottana, where we will visit the breathtaking views of the town as well as its civic museum where prehistoric artifacts of the area are kept. Giovanna, host of the itinerary, will welcome you in her BnB nestled among the tiny lanes of the town and will offer a short textile workshop that will encourage your creativity by reusing everyday fabrics.
