The heart of Sicily
is in the Madonie.
A short ridge of mountains and hills in the province of Palermo, nestled between the beaches of Cefalù and the Imera and Pollina rivers. From snow-capped peaks, to lush green forests, reaching through wide golden expanses of wheat, the Madonie contain a kaleidoscope of Sicilian landscapes, colors, and scents. This extraordinary mix allows for an abundant diversity of foods, flavors, thoughts, and knowledge which local communities proudly hand down through generations.
In 1981 the Region of Sicily established the Madonie Park which protects the heritage of the area and its biodiversity. Since 2015, the Park has been included in the UNESCO World Geoparks network.
