Passionate about nature and explorer of the Madonie
Calogero works as a hiking guide in the upper and lower regions of the Madonie. His career was born from passion: his love for the Madonie and their surroundings led him to explore even the most hidden areas. He started by sharing his discoveries in nature with friends and eventually others. Over time, he created a network of contacts including restaurateurs, artisans, and holiday home hosts in the Caltavuturo area and neighboring towns.
This network is at the core of the experiences Calogero has designed for The Heart of Sicily. Despite his great experience in leading visitors to discover the paths and the beauty of the Madonie, calling him a guide seems quite reductive: he is a farmer, an expert in foraging, a producer of delicious liqueurs, and ointments with wildflowers and herbs from the countryside. During his hikes, he will share his passion as well as his local knowledge.

The itineraries which I plan to explore with you share a panorama that includes peaks of two thousand meters, the sea, cultivated lands, and lush wild flora, all typical of the mountains and the high Sicilian hills. We will discover archaeological sites and prehistoric routes together in itineraries designed for all levels, from beginners and on.
Calogero is not just an excellent guide. He is also a generous friend, adamantly in love with the oldest and wildest places in the Madonie. We are convinced that this love will touch you too, in the same way it has for us at The Heart of Sicily.
